Keeping everyone happy when planning a wedding is hard, and trying to fit in everything else is harder still!
Last week, my bridesmaids were complaining about their weight so, instead of moaning, we did something about it.
At the weekend, I invited them around to my place and, instead of sitting down in front of the laptop going through endless lists, I handed them each a pair or trainers and told them we were going for a powerwalk. Despite the moaning to start with, we all really enjoyed the walking and the talking, and actually solved a few wedding problems that had been on my mind. We also spoke about how we could support each other in our weight-loss goals over the next seven weeks, plus what else was on my ‘to do’ list and how they could help. I don’t actually know what I would do without them!
To thank my fantasitc bridesmaids, I went home and started looking at gifts to give them on the morning of the wedding. Buying a suitable present is hard – I wanted something they could keep, that would go with their dresses and that will remind them of my special day in years to come. Luckily, I came across this necklace by Maria Allen Jewellery.
Doubling as a cute, vintage-inspired necklace with a swallow bird charm, the thing I love about it is that it has a golden envelope which contains a little removable wooden notelet in it. You etch up to five words of your choice on it, which makes the gift totally personal and special.
I haven’t decided what I’m going to write on each one yet, but I’ve really fallen for the idea of inscribing it with either my wedding date or something unique to each bridesmaid – maybe their nicknames or a childhood memory special to us. Something else for me to mull over!
